Aloha! I am a professional photographer based on the picturesque island of Maui in Hawaii. I have historically focused my shooting on fine art landscapes, wildlife and action scenes (such as surfing and windsurfing), but am now expanding to swimwear, beach fashions and related types of glamour photography. Along with my wife, Cathy, I seek out beautiful and exciting locations to capture the awesome world around us.
When not in Hawaii we travel the mainland in our awesome Sportsmobile conversion van and visit some of the best and most scenic areas in the United States for photoshoots.
My interest in photography started over 30 years ago when I was a teen working with my uncle who enjoyed taking pictures as a pastime. When I was in my early 20’s I got my first SLR camera, a Canon AE-1. This film based camera was state of the art at the time offering the ability to take high quality photographs without the need for a medium format camera.
As the years progressed I keep up the hobby, moving into digital with the first Canon Rebel. Now many upgrades later I currently shoot with a Canon 5D Mark IV and a Canon 7D Mark II along with a growing collection of professional lenses.
I am an entrepreneur at heart and have owned two successful businesses (and one not so successful one!). As of 2017, my wife and I turned our current business, Hawaiian Experience Spa, over to our son Mike so that we can focus on photography. Hawaiian Experience Spa is the number one day spa in Arizona and is based around the culture and traditions of Hawaii. Treatments offered include traditional Hawaiian lomi lomi massage, Maui relaxation massage, coconut sea salt lomi lomi, Eminence organic facials, lomi for lovers couples’ experiences and much more. Many of our fine art photographs are on display at the spas.
